Two Years is a collection of observations written during 2020—2022. Set in Ohio, going between Cincinnati and Columbus, the poems seek out humanity in turbulent times. They are laments and worries and hope that contained within our cores is compassion for the Other.

The collection begins with a cold Monday, numb to the world, and ends weeping on a highway. Two Years is not a particularly long journey, but it leads one to a place they may not have expected to be.

Elena Kay Herren lives in Columbus, Ohio. They graduated from the Art Academy of Cincinnati with a BFA majoring in Illustration and a minor in Art History and Creative Writing. They spend most of their time reading and daydreaming about fish.
