Manfredi returns to Teutoburg to stage the battle that redeemed the Roman army after their worst defeat and conferred Germanicus everlasting glory.
From the moment when, at a very young age, Germanicus and Agrippina recognized each other as keen spirits, they never parted again. Their bond is the culmination of a great passion.
When the young commander is called upon to lead the eight legions stationed at the banks of the Rhine River to redeem the name of the empire after their defeat on Teutoburg, Agrippina decides to follow him. Despite being pregnant, she participates in the camp life, soon revealing an influence over the soldiers that even exceeded that of his husband. Proud, bold, and tenacious, they both seem predestined: if Germanicus, son of the brave commander Drusus, is the most suited man to succeed Augustus, Agrippina, daughter of Marcus Vipsanius Agrippa, is a brilliant Roman matron.
However, upon Augustus’ death, the couple’s future darkens, because the emperor appoints his stepson Tiberius as successor. Beloved by the people and the soldiers, and feared by those in power, Germanicus and Agrippina accept their fate, boldly and aware.
Years after Germanicus’ death, centurion Quintus Sergius Sabinus—faithful servant of the Estate who was lucky enough to witness Germanicus’ deeds—writes his memoirs and relates who the failed emperor and his warrior wife were.
